Ue wo muite arukou namida ga koborenai you ni
Omoidasu haru no hi hitoribocchi no yoru
I look up when I walk so the tears won't fall
Remembering those happy spring days but tonight I'm all alone

Ue wo muite arukou nijinda hoshi wo kazoete
Omoidasu natsu no hi hitoribocchi no yoru
I look up when I walk, counting the stars with tearful eyes
Remembering those happy summer days but tonight I'm all alone

Shiawase wa kumo no ue ni Shiawase wa sora no ue ni
Ue wo muite arukou namida ga koborenai you ni
Nakinagara aruku hitoribocchi no yoru
Happiness lies beyond the clouds happiness lies above the sky
I look up when I walk so the tears won't fall
Though my heart is filled with sorrow for tonight I'm all alone

Omoidasu aki no hi hitoribotchi no yoru
Kanashimi wa hoshi no kage ni kanashimi wa tsuki no kage ni
Remembering those happy autumn days but tonight I'm all alone
Sadness hides in the shadow of the stars Sadness lurks in the shadow of the moon

Ue wo muite arukou namida ga koborenai you ni
Nakinagara aruku hitoribotchi no yoru
I look up when I walk so the tears won't fall
Though my heart is filled with sorrow for tonight I'm all alone

As I promised, a bonus song before I head on to a new tribute Month... hence the reason I'm posting this quite late before the day turns October...

The bonus song is my all time favorite song, a classic version of that popular Japanese song by the male singer who looked like a very warm and friendly person: Kyu Sakamoto-san. Yes, it's the song, that has probably became the first Japanese song that went booming global wide. The title of the song is as written above, meaning "I Walk with My Head Up", but has been mislead by the foreigners (Ano gaijin tomomeee!!! >.<) with the popular (yet inapproriate) title SUKIYAKI. The background story about how the title became mislead, can be read in the Wiki link I've provided above, so I'm not going to explain about it... and yes, YES... this song is definitely NOT about FOOD! NOT about that yummy delicious Japanese beef stew, a personal favorite among Japanese cuisine which I went looking after I finish recording this cover... *cough cough*

I've been puzzled quite sometime about how this song turned into the title of a food, thankfully Wikipedia enlightened my knowledge and lost my doubt about the amazing-ness of the song. This song had been covered by lots of foreign artists, with Blue Diamond from Dutch doing the very first as they interpret that Sukiyaki was the name of a girl. o_O?? Seriously...! The original song was written by Rokusuke-san, inspired by the event that he was heartbroken by a girl though. Despite the reason behind the creation of the song which I found to be -a bit- lame... I found this song had an awesome lyric, both sad and inspiring and uplifting at the same time...

In this song, the singer whistle as he is walking, while he kept his head up to avoid tears falling down. Somehow, it feels lonely, he feels alone, so in order to not let tears fall, he heads up and venture the night. He even said, that happiness is among the cloud. Kinda sad when you think that he is lonely, but then again, he goes with a positive attitude, rather than crying, he tried to look up and look for happiness above... the power of positive thinking? Well probably...

Anyway, the important message about this song, is everyone, and yes of course you as well... will sometime feel lonesome and alone in this world, probably because losing someone we cared, or because feel deserted and neglected by others, the world can be harsh and people can be cruel... but nevertheless, don't mourn in sorrow, don't let tears caught you up, look up and see things positively. Well, somehow this method kinda works for me... who've basically been feeling very very and very down lately....

I'm glad I can do the cover for this all time favorite, and I enjoyed recording this number so much, that my mom even thought that my voice was the original singer XD. Oh, and what the connection between this song and CLAMP? I said earlier that this song had something to do with CLAMP right? Simple... *drumroll* because this song was sang or anthemed as the final closing number at last week's CLAMP Festival. Hahaha.... XD

Hope you enjoy this classic tribute as well, and if you paid attention to the video, and you noticed something odd in the end... YES! I'm hungry and the title tempted me to put that picture... hahaha, and I meant it when I said that I went to buy some Sukiyaki after recording... :)

JCBU Always... (^^)/

~Furede Riko~

When you close your doors, and make darkness within, remember never to say that you are alone, for you are not alone; nay, God is within, and your genius is within. And what need have they of light to see what you are doing? (Epictetus)

The whole conviction of my life now rests upon the belief that loneliness, far from being a rare and curious phenomenon, peculiar to myself and to a few other solitary men, is the central and inevitable fact of human existence... (Thomas Wolfe)

If you want to listen to the mp3, you can go Madd Man 's realm, where the owner put lots of version of this classic. The original still stood as the best one for me though. Here's the video if you prefer:
