Kuroi KORUTO ga hi wo fukeba akunin domo wo kechirasu zo
Are ga bokura no RED RED RED Shounen RED
Paints the red dawn, the muffler of justice flutters
Wearing the fiery black cloth, I'll kick about those evil thugs
That's who I am, the Red Red Red Shounen Red

Are ga bokura no RED RED RED Shounen RED
Reflects the red blood, armed with the glove of courage
Wearing the fiery punch of love, those evil thugs will run away

LYRICS

Ai to yuuki no chikara wo shinjite anata wa heiwa wo mamoru tame
Kamen ni kakushita namida wo nuguu
You trust the power of love and courage for you are chosen to protect peace
Wipe the hidden tears under that mask

Donna ni hageshii arashi ni mo anata wa yasashiku tatteiru
Magokoro no hi wa kienai to
No matter what violent struggles you meet, you still stands gently
That day of sincerity won't disappear

Akatsuki ni seigi wo someagete ima arawareru ima kake meguru
Tsurai toki ni wa sono na wo yobou wo... RED RED RED Shounen RED
Dye the dawn a color of justice, it appears now, it moves secretly
When times are hard, let's call that name... Red, Red, Red, Shonen Red

Yume to kibou no ashita wo mitsumete anata wa kanashimi norikoete
Kamen ni kakushita kokoro wo tozasu
You keep eyes on tomorrow's dreams and hopes, climb over sadness
Shut that hidden heart under that mask

Donna ni tsumetai arashi ni mo anata no kokoro ga atatakai
Magokoro no hi wo kanjiteimasu
No matter what cold struggles you meet, your heart is always warm
I feel that day of sincerity

Akatsuki ni seigi wo someagete ima tachiagaru ima kake meguru
Tsurai toki ni wa sono na wo yobou wo... RED RED RED Shonen RED
Dye the dawn a color of justice, it begins now, it moves secretly
When times are hard, let's call that name... Red, Red, Red, Shonen Red

RED RED RED Shounen RED

NOTE: The 1st song lyric was from the game section of Anime Lyrics, and I did the translation. The 2nd song comes from the anime section on Anime Lyrics though I discover some mixups and fixed them (as usual).
PERSONAL THOUGHTS
Brave Warrior in Red? Yes... I'm speaking about SHOUNEN RED... or as ADV translated in the 2nd OVA: Red Lad. I still prefer the Japanese term though. Shounen Red is the title of one of the play, or to be exact a Radio Show performed by the Teikoku Kagekidan. It was a story by the master of picture-card/paper theater Chibasuke, which was later adapted into a book with special cover by Seiya Ogata. These background story are depicted in the 2nd OVA, in Iris-Reni and Kouran-Orihime's episode (episode 2 and 4 respectively). Oh... on the right is the picture of Chibasuke performing the paper play ^^...
Shounen Red is a warrior of justice, wearing red mask... and he's protecting the world from evil with the help of Professor Yukawa and his daughter, Red's love interest Masae. He has to battle his evil arch-enemy Skull-X who is accompanied by his four henchmen: 1000 year Cedar Hag, Bear Killer Gouriki, Red Wind of Mediterranean, Scion Duke... and... well, evil underling number one KIIII!!!! (who is a direct spoof to Kamen Rider's enemy Dai-Shocker XD). Uhmmm... actually, the last one doesn't really count anyway, cause it was really Sumire dressing up since she couldn't appear as Benitokage XD....
Speaking of Sumire's role... indeed, the Teigeki girls took those part in their play. Li Kouran played the leading star Red, while Sakura Shinguuji played Masae Yukawa. Maria Tachibana played the villain Skull X, while Kanna Kirishima, Iris Chateubriand, Soletta Orihime and Reni Milchstrasse took the roles Gouriki, Hag, the sexy Red Wind and Duke respectively. Red, Masae and Skull-X made an appearance in the Benitokage Live Musical (featuring Sumire Kanzaki as the sexy villain Benitokage). Other than that appearance, if I recall, the cast also wore their clothes at the 2001 New Year Show. I advised you to watch the 2nd OVA, Gouka Kenran episode 4 to see how the story of Red is put as headlines, this is probably one of my most favorite OVA episode ever.
On to the songs. The 1st song, is the theme song of Shounen Red, sung by Red (played by Li Kouran) himself. It's a short yet patriotic song, that served as his anthem, and was introduced in the 2nd game soundtrack cause this play is one of the show performed in the 2nd game. The song is annoyingly entertaining, and was supposed to be taken like those on Super Hero shows (Tokusatsu anyone?) or probably those old-school Batman esque (ever watch the show in the 60s?). It has the premise of a 1930-40's radio show tune, which very much explains the spirit of the song. The 2nd song, is sung by Masae (played by Sakura)... and is a song about the citizen who put their hopes in Red. It has the similar oldies vibe, and was introduced in the drama CD. It was a heavily-orchestrated song though, so you can easily feel the power of the song. Both songs are the songs of Red, and though it might not sound good to most people... fans usually appreciate them nicely... ;)

Why didn't I put the 2nd song along with the previous Sakura's Songs Combo? I'm going to be honest... just like "Ai ga Kaoru Koro ni" the process of covering this song actually comes without planning. The decision popped out in my head only several days ago. I was intentionally wanted to post just the first song, the Red's anthem... but several days ago, I thought... "hey, the song's less than 2 minutes o_O... TOO SHORT?"... so I was about to pair it with "Tsubasa" the duet of Kouran and Iris but somehow it doesn't fit. So I looked around my collection, and suddenly remembered that there IS indeed a coupling song for "Shounen Red" XD.... Yes, this song is actually quite forgetable for me. The reason, because it's not my favorite... though I really enjoy listening to this one better than the two Sakura Shinguuji's image songs (this is one of her better songs IMO).

I had a hard time recording this one, cause lately my microphone has been getting really really bad... the 1st try it was filled with lots of noise, and the volume can not be adjusted... eventhough I didn't actually have trouble with the song itself. Editing the result is much more tougher though, since the music -as I said earlier- is heavily orchestrated, it drowns my vocals instantly (especially since it had lots of low notes in the verses - I guess because it was built for Sakura's sharp voice). It was such a challenge that I had to lower the karaoke volume to 70% in order to have my vocal visible... hence, I'm not really satisfied with this result. I do... enjoy the outcome, it's good, but not fully pleased with it. Definitely not my personal favorite... ^^;

The 1st song is a direct opposite though, I had very little problem in recording it. It was actually hillarious, since I always thought of this song as comical, hence I sang it that way... XD. I played around with my voice, enjoying the recording and it was finished so quick (since the duration of the song itself is short hahaha). The only problem was that my voice kinda hit the volume TOO MUCH. Yesss.... my vocals tend to sound TOO LOUD in this song (compared to the 2nd song where I was like... TOO SOFT....) Yikes.... I really enjoy the result, and though it's not a personal favorite as well, I still liked it better than the 2nd song... HA HA HA (and please don't mind me being a bit narcist at the end of the video)

So there they are, two songs from the play Shounen Red. Not the very best of my covers, but both enjoyable in their own ways. Hope you'll enjoy it as well, or even more than I do... Now, I'm going to lie down cause my head's spinning... Yes, been sick since Friday (and it cost me not able to go the graduation ceremony of my students last Saturday T.T). Hope you're healthy and unlike me! See ya...

~Furede Riko

That's right, I'm the mighty strong... Red Red Red Shounen Red!!! (Li Kouran from "Shounen Red")

ORIGINAL SONG
Hmmm... sorry guys, I couldn't find any original song... but there's a version of the 1st song by (drunk, yes... drunk, because she ate something by mistake if I recall) Reni Milchstrasse from the 2001 New Year Show. Enjoy!!
