LYRICS

Anata wo ayamete misemashoka?
Mune no furiko ga ookiku yurete watashi wo ayashiku sasoimasu
Shall I show you how I'll wound you?
The pendulum of my heart is swinging wildly bewitchingly calling out to me

* Kokoro takanaru yoru no SANBA   PAYAPAYA
Hajirai ni furuete mo saku hana wa kuro no hana yo
Kuchibiru wo sotto kasaneru to Aaa yoru no SANBA
My heart throbs to the samba of the night
Though I may tremble with shyness, the flower that blooms is a black flower
When our lips softly meet, Ahh, the samba of the night

Akuma ni tamashii urimashoka?
Kuroi honoo ga chiro chiro moete, honto no jibun wo mitsuketa no
Shall I sell my soul to the devil?
The black flames are burning, I've found my true self

Kokoro yusaburu   yoru no SANBA   PAYAPAYA
Hajirai ni   furuete mo saku hana wa kuro no hana yo
Kuchibiru wo sotto kasaneru to Aaa yoru no SANBA
My heart shakes to the samba of the night
Though I may tremble with shyness, the flower that blooms is a black flower
When our lips softly meet, Ahh, the samba of the night

REPEAT *

LYRICS

Yorokobi mo kanashimi mo hito wa minna chigau iro
Mishiranu machi Mishiranu eki Miageru aozora
Hana wo mite kaze wo mite sotto tatazumu watashi
Nagareyuku kisetsu no uta wo yasashiku dakishimeta
Everyone's happiness and sadness are different colors
In an unfamiliar town, at an unfamiliar station, I look up at the blue sky
Looking at the flowers and the wind, I stood quietly
Tenderly embracing the song of the passing seasons

Haruka yama ya kawa no nagare ni furusato wo omou toki
Amaku setsunaku kokoro ni utsuru aozora wa kagayaiteru
When I think of my hometown, the distant mountains and the river's flow
Sweetly, painfully, the blue sky shines in my heart

Yume to kibou no niji wo ippai ni sukuitori
Doko made mo kakete miseyou watashi no aozora ni
Scooping up the rainbow of dreams and hope
I'll show you that I can fly anywhere in my blue sky

Yorokobi mo kanashimi mo nagareyuku kumo ni nite
Hateshinaku tsunagaru sora ni itsu ka wa kieru darou
Happiness and sadness float by like the clouds
Someday they'll disappear into the endless sky that connects us all

Haruka yama ya kawa no nagare ni furusato wo omou toki
Amaku setsunaku kokoro ni utsuru aozora wa kagaite 'ru
When I think of my hometown, the distant mountains and the river's flow
Sweetly, painfully, the blue sky shines in my heart

Chigau basho ni umarete ima deaeta no dakara
Anata no ai wo kasaneyou watashi no aozora ni
Because we were born in different places and have now met
I'll gather up your love in my blue sky

Doko made mo kakete miseyou watashi no aozora ni
Anata no ai wo kasaneyou watashi no aozora ni
I'll show you that I can fly anywhere in my blue sky
I'll gather up your love in my blue sky

NOTE: The 1st song lyric was from Anime Lyric's SakuTai Game section while the 2nd song comes from the anime section. Nope, this time I didn't check the translation, cause I've been feeling lazy (or evil? haha) lately...

PERSONAL THOUGHTS
Today's menu is the 2, and yes... the only 2 solo songs by the late-Vice Commander of Teigeki, Ayame Fujieda. Ayame sings in the chorus of "Hanasaku Otome" though, but that can be considered as group song and not solo. Ayame Fujieda is the right hand of Ikki Yoneda, the commander of Teikoku Kagekidan. She was acting as the vice manager in the theatre as well. Ayame only appears in the 1st game (as well as manga, and TV), and afterwards she was replaced by her sister Kaede Fujieda. There's her picture on the right, since I actually didn't put any photo of her in these vids T.T (my bad? haha... nope, I have reasons ^^)
Now, why do I say that these songs are the 2 sides of Ayame? Well... this has been considered as spoiler, but since the game was released 15 years ago, and I think fans would have known about it by now... I'm going to be honest. Ayame turns evil during the final arc of the game. Aoi Satan, the love of her life, tempted her and thus causing the darkness to rule over her body and soul. Ayame turns into Aya-Me... What's the difference? In Japanese Ayame means Iris - the flower, while Aya-Me means Female Killer... Yup, they have different kanji but pronounced the same way. Oouuch... Japanese can indeed be really spooky and scary just by mis-using the wrong kanji, right?
The 1st song, "Yoru no SAMBA" is actually a huge spoiler to the series, because it's actually a song by Aya-Me... and not the real Ayame, the good guy. Most fans, including myself, were honestly puzzled by the lyrics and the devilish seductive vibe of this song when we first heard it, simply because... "Hey, this DOESN'T suit her character at all... o_O". The calm, reserved and sophisticated Ayame, sings a song about surrendering herself to evil, about killing others... along with that latin-sounding addictive DANCE music. We basically discovered the reason, as the twist involving her in the game is revealed. This song is all evil, this song is very much the antagonist song, but is named as one of the best solo of the 1st game soundtrack. Try listening to it, and you'll be mesmerized, or chanted by it's catchy danceable beat... add in Ai Orikasa sultry voice, and there you go...

The 2nd song is the ending to Sakura Taisen first ever OVA, "Ouka Kenran". The OVA is actually a background story of the main game, that consist of the recruiting of the initial members. Here, of course, Ayame plays an important part since she's the one who traveled the globe to do the recruitment. This song, is DEFINITELY an Ayama Fujieda song... Yup, not the EVIL side of her, this is THE GOOD Ayame. The music is gentle and sounds like those 1930-40s light jazz, that reflects so much of the steam-punk era. This song works like charm to those who enjoys classic tales of the 40s, though it might sound off for those who prefer a more contemporer sound. I really enjoy this song, it's laid back and it's soothing for the soul. The lyrics? Well, it's all about the journey, the ups and downs of life. It has a great lyric, and a 180 degrees opposite to the 1st song. It's a song about how the members of Teigeki originate from different place, yet they meet at the same place, sharing the good and bad times together... as love spread among them. Dream and hope, are the key to happiness she said...

I really enjoyed doing the cover for these songs. For the 1st song, I actually tried channelling my evil-self, awakening the 'devil' in me, so I can sing the song as mischief as I can be... It might sound un-evil enough, but hey, I do really meant each word thus letting out those small shrieks and sinister laugh here and there... I really got carried away, to be frank ^^;. I couldn't help to dance away a bit while doing the vocals, cause the sexy samba beat was really helding my head and emotion captive. Hence, I probably had some notes off-pitch here and there... then again, those sharp notes at the verses were actually a bit hard to tackle as well. The result turned out nice, not my best - it still could've been better... but I really enjoy it, and couldn't help to smirk every time I listened to it.

I decided to make this song as a tribute to the villain of Sakura Taisen 1st game - the Kuronosukai. The popularity of the Hanagumi members are so big, that their villains are actually shafted away, so here's one for them... Haha. With that said, it explains why the video consists of images of the Kuronosukai members: Miroku, Rasetsu, Setsuna, Aoi Satan and also their big boss Tenkai. Those images were from the TV and 1st OVA screencaps. I won't explain more about these guys, you can read it at Wiki. DEVIL reigns!!! Why not showing Ayame-san images? As I said earlier, this song is not by HER, but by her evil side when she joins the dark team... so it won't fit right?

On to the 2nd song... You say that it sounds 'different' compared to my latest release? Well... OF COURSE! I can proudly say, that the 2nd song, is my very very first... attempt of doing a cover. It was an old work, I did it on 2006 (December if I recall, I couldn't tell the precise date since the raw recording is in my backup... somewhere XD), and it was using a very lame quality desktop PC, with a very low quality and borrowed  microphone (my cousin's - which afterward went pooff). The result? Well, the result's well worth the equipment I used anyway, so don't expect a superb quality. It's RAW as well, meaning no editing, hence some noise pickups here and there, and sometime the music practically drowns my vocals. Despite that, it actually fits to nature of the song. Those poor recording resulted in a quality sound of those old radio tune, my cous said that it sounded like I was singing in the 50s... and well, that's how the song reflects right? haha. Yup, it made the end result sounded exactly like an old radio broadcasting version, thus strengthening the atmosphere of the song.

I really really enjoy it, and I think it's one of my best work at that time, and probably so far... it really brings back such precious memories whenever I listen to it; with my dad, my grandpa, my best friend... it's all coming back to me everytime it plays in my ear. My last Xmas with my Dad if I recall... *sigh*... Best of all, at that time, I was still tightly active in church choir and singer service, so my vocal was actually a whole lot better that time, cause it was regularly 'profesionally' trained XD. Hey, 5 years ago I was definitely still YOUNG and my vocal was at its prime! Hahaha... The 2nd song was among my first posts at Youtube as well, so that explains the other reason why I didn't put Ayame-san pictures in it. Back then, I was lazy because I was already busy with my job, so... I decided to put my own narcists photo instead ^^v.... that photo was from work by the way haha. It was my first recordings, and my first Youtube releases... so hope you won't mind with the quality.... It was my early works that I cherished so much, it'll always be my personal favorite of all time...

So there you go, the two sides of Ayame. The evil side who danced about darkness through the night, and her good side who cherished everyone in her heart, and always positively looked up to her blue sky in times of trouble. What's in it for me? Well, as anyone of you out there, I'm simply just a human, and like Ayame-san, there are two sides deep within me, the dark one and the good one. So these songs, are not just covers... it's a re-telling of my own feeling, my own emotions, my own sides. It's about the devil in me... it's about the desire of me for hope, dream, and a blue sky. They are my songs, they are about a human being named Furede Riko... not just Ayame Fujieda's, not just a simple cover version...

Hope you liked them both, please comment or subscribe if you enjoy them... I would really appreciate them all. Have a nice day, God Bless and see you soon with the last song of a full-month Sakura Taisen tribute...
~Furede Riko

I'll show you that I can fly anywhere in my blue sky... (Ayame Fujieda from "Watashi no Aozora")

ORIGINAL SONG
With the popularity of these song, it's no wonder that people must have upload it. Here you go, the studio version of "Samba of The Night"... and though there's no studio recording version, a live performance of the 2nd song from Hanagumi Christmas Show in 1998.

Ai Orikasa - Yoru no SAMBA
Ai Orikasa - Watashi no Aozora ("Kiseki no Kane" Xmas Show Performance)

Oh, and bonuses... the live performance of the 1st song, where Ayame danced it off in the "Ai Yue ni" musical, Sakura Taisen 1st ever live show....
Ai Orikasa - Yoru no SAMBA (Live Performance From "Ai Yue ni")

The lyrics are a bit altered there though, cause she sings it as Ayame not Aya-Me, so don't be surprised if you felt it sounds different... and the 2nd song performed last year by Ai Orikasa as Kaede Fujieda (she voiced both sisters), in the Teito Live. Now that I've realized, Ai-san never performed this song as Ayame, she always sang it as Kaede instead...
Ai Orikasa - Watashi no Aozora (Teito Live 2010 Live Performance)

Hope you enjoy these performances!!
